Pamela Morgan - My Story

Think of me as your guide to everything entertaining!

My great love for food, travel, adventure, song and dance, along with my entrepreneurial experience all weave through my content and recipes. I’ll even share with you my favorite products! And yes, you will always find me in the kitchen at any party…whether it’s my own or someone else’s!

My story all started in the small town of Wichita Falls, Texas where I dreamed of bringing my energy to the big stage.

Pamela and pals in Texas

Little did I imagine that dancing, singing, and cooking would actually be my calling.

I followed my passion for entertaining all the way to NYC where I began to live out my dreams through Broadway auditions and background dance work.

My first head shot.

But I still wasn’t feeling that sense of satisfaction.  NYC can be a very lonely place to a young single girl. I started to channel my energy and loneliness into cooking as a way of connecting with people in the Big Apple. This is when I truly started to come into my own. I studied cooking and made a lot of mistakes along the way. But I soon realized how cooking connects us to others…in the kitchen and across the table.

My mother loved to entertain.

In the confines of my postage stamp-sized apartment, I began to cook (often calling my mother back in Texas for advice)!
I also went to cooking school and my passion grew.  Before I knew it, hungry bachelors in my building were knocking at my door, not for me but my food! Of course, I obliged (and may have dated a few of them in the process 😉.) Little did I know, this is where my life as a food and lifestyle entrepreneur would begin.

Through trial and error, I tested new recipes on friends and neighbors. In the process, I learned the power that home cooked meals can have. Food connects us and transcends through every barrier. I realized early on how powerful and beautiful that is.

HC&G article - Giving Thanks November 2019 Pamela Morgan

Cooking brought me to my first marriage where my husband had a restaurant in the Village.

He let me use his kitchen to begin my catering business. I took a job at the Silver Palate and worked for Sheila Lukins and Julie Rosso when their Silver Palate cookbook came out and went on to become a New York Times Best Seller.

Soon after, I gave birth to my son Zachary who today is a father himself.

I went on to study with famed chefs in the U.S. and Europe, where I worked with Alain Ducasse and Roger Vergé in their highly acclaimed kitchens in the south of France. My rigorous training in the kitchen classrooms of French chef Madeleine Kamman took my love affair with food to new heights.

In time, I became a daring entrepreneur who lit up NYC’s culinary landscape with my innovative “food shop” concept.

In the 90s, with the help of my friend (and now husband) Michael, I created Flavors Catering and Carryout which was one of the country’s early “catering and carry out” food shops, receiving the highest rating attainable from Zagat’s Marketplace Guide.

Martha Stewart, Harry Winston, Fabrikant

I’ve done it all  — from private dinners to large-scale parties for the likes of Vogue, Martha Stewart, Harry Winston, and Chanel — feeding everyone from models to artists to CEO’s. This chapter in my life inspired my first book, Pamela Morgan’s Flavors, which was written by Michael McLaughlin and published in 1998. I hosted my annual foodies pot luck dinner for my chef friends like Gene Pressman, Florence Fabrikant, Michael Romano and others like Bobby Flay, Tom Colicchio, Katie Lee and Geoffrey Zakarian.

(Coming soon! You can buy my book in paperback here on my site. The recipes are so still so relevant today!)
