When we last spoke, I was in Aguas Calientes, Peru…at the doorstep to Machu Picchu. I was so excited to hop on the bus and head into the mountains to the historic site! Now, the journey continues!
Our bus traveled along a treacherous, winding road with a roaring river below. I tried to stay brave and not think about the worst case scenario!
Machu Picchu
Finally, with white knuckles, we arrived at the entrance to Machu Picchu.
We were among the lucky few who were able to stay overnight at the Sanctuary Lodge.
My first experience of Machu Picchu felt like a dream.
After we checked in to the sanctuary, we spent the rest of the afternoon hiking with our guide. It was a beautiful sunny day. The colors were majestic. The green of the grass against the stone-gray of the mountains, with bright blue clouds hovering in the background. I could feel the powerful energy of the ancient spirits nearby.
Wayna Picchu
On day two we woke early to a rainy, misty day, but my husband was determined to hike to the top of Wayna Picchu, the mountain peak adjacent to Machu Picchu. I was not a happy camper. It was steep and wet but there is a reason we nicknamed Michael “el toro” (the bull), he was not going to take no for an answer!
I couldn’t even look down as we hiked slowly up the mountain. But I was determined to make it to the top…and I did!!
Little did I know, going down would be even steeper. I was so relieved when we finally reached the bottom! Another milestone to check off for me. I was very proud of myself!
We lingered in the park after the hike and relished the beauty and magic of Machu Picchu. I sat on the one of the stones and meditated and asked that the spirits guide me and assist me to manifest my dreams.
Then it was time to move on. The next and last stop on our Peruvian adventure would be the capital, Lima. And since I love to share my escapades with you, my next blog will be all about Lima (foodies make sure you tune in because the food was spectacular!).
Til next time…Keep flirting!!!
