I can’t tell you how nervous I was before the Women of Achievement Awards Gala for the Women’s Project a few weeks ago at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. This year they honored the prolific songwriter, Dorothy Fields. I couldn’t believe it when I was asked to take the stage this year to sing along with so many pros! I’m just an ex-Broadway gypsy!I may have moved to New York in my twenties to be a professional singer and dancer, but that was a long time ago!
I finally worked up the courage to go for it, and I’m so glad I did. Here’s the video of me singing Where Am I Going from Sweet Charity. I thought it would be funny to sing my old audition song all the way through this time! I hope you enjoy watching it, but please forgive the audio quality 🙂 Even though I was terrified I’d embarrass myself, I had so much fun in the end. I hope this inspires you to take a leap into something you might be timid about. That’s where the magic happens!!
Oh, and Patrick McMullen was there photographing the event that night. His photographs are always gorgeous and so flattering. Since he and I go way back, he asked to feature me in his magazine, PMc, for a little interview for YOU KNOW ME! Thanks, Patrick!
