Everyone has one memory or another involving punch. I know I have a few! Whether it was from your first mixer, getting in trouble for spiking the punch at your prom, or hosting your first cookout, the punch bowl is a cornerstone of warm weather memories.
On that note- it’s almost summer! The Met Gala has come and gone, The James Beard Awards have been doled out, and the lush greenery right outside my apartment in Central Park is so vibrant it almost looks like a rainforest. I absolutely love this time of year! On top of everything else, party season is definitely in full swing. There are graduation celebrations, baby showers, weddings, cookouts, and dinner parties galore! It is time to break out the linen dresses, white slacks, and our favorite pairs of sunnies (and the alcohol) and celebrate! This weekend, for Memorial Day, I’m heading to the Hamptons for a little sun, some good food, and great company. What better way is there to toast to life’s little milestones than with a little boozy punch? Answer: nothing!
This recipe was inspired by my love of coconut water. It’s my go-to morning after cure, and my favorite way to hydrate. And, of course, I love my cocktails; especially when I’m having guests over. I hosted a cooking party Monday night for 6 fabulous women. I created an Asian-influenced menu and needed a drink that would compliment the flavors. I combed through my fridge until I found fruit juices that just screamed Flirting with Flavors! The punch was a total hit, and we sipped our punch on my terrace while overlooking Central Park.
The pink tinge of the unfiltered coconut water (which turns pink when it comes in contact with oxygen) combined with a splash of vanilla rum (yes, vanilla!) gave this punch its flirty summer glow! I used a mix of pineapple and mango juices to get the perfect tropical flavor and that gorgeous color! I opted out of the traditional punch bowl and plastic cups in favor of a beautiful pitcher What a sexy drink!
Ingredients
- 4 oz Vodka
- 2 oz Vanilla Rum you can use white rum as a substitution
- 7 oz mango juice
- 8 oz pineapple juice
- 10 oz unfiltered coconut water
- ice cubes
- limes for garnish
Instructions
- Combine first 5 ingredients in a pitcher. Stir using a swizzle stick or cocktail spoon. Add ice cubes. Stir again to cool the beverage. Pour about 4 oz of punch into tumblers of your choice. Slice limes, and garnish glasses. Cheers!
